High Time to change with changing times

KUMAR [vina.vinasa@gmail.com ] writes on Time to change with changing times

The communities which have resisted change have vanished, the best example is our neighbor todas, the majority of Todas changed to Christianity because of laws in community.  Forget about the changes happening  across world, let us first assess the situation in our community.

Someone has mentioned about the ratio, it is pathetic at present. Every big hatty has atleast 40+ males waiting to get married even though they are well qualified professionally and financially. Anyone in this forum who has someone to get married in his or her house should know well about this. If this continues, its going to affect the society badly, may lead to extramarital affairs and marrying within the seeme(akka-thange).

Its easy for a girl, if she is smart and has chosen a good person, it does not matter which community she is going to live.  But think about a guy, he cannot go to his hutty, nor attend his parents funeral, its cruel.  The elders have to change their mindset, they have to understand what is happening in our society and across the world.  By the time these people die and rules change, lot of boys are going to lose their lives.

Kotagiri and Mekkunadu are far more better, they have accepted it, but in Thodhanadu its just like khap panchayats in Haryana.  When a girl or boy is matured enough to live alone far from his or her place in India or abroad, they will be smart enough to decide their lives also.  Even the middle east well known for ultra orthodox has changed, its time for us to change or else it will affect us badly.

Lets not forget, we live once, time and life are precious.

  1. So everyone here are only very eager about the community the caste the religion….. The reson for why most people are wanting inter-caste marriage is so that many people wont suffer and have a peacefull life like the rest who did an arranged marriage…. Have we not heard the story of the girl’s father killing the boy or the family separating the girl totally from the family????
my question is what do u gain from this?? what benifit have those parents got without a child?? what have their caste given them in return to their unhappy child’s life?? why make a family unhappy just in name of a caste?? people who do not support intercaste marriage are once who have still not realised the reality of today’s world…. i very strongly support intercaste marriage… our community is not going to vanish just because of intercaste marriage i am very sure in that….. there are so many actress and actors and singers who are in the cini field…. they have gone out of our community rules does that mean they dont belong to our community?????? which baduga family has supported a girl to go to a cini field now time has changed has our community vanished??????

  2. Recently I have heard that the rules regarding morai have been relaxed and some people have limited it to people having blood relation. Is this true?
Does that mean people who are in different ooru in same seemai can get married if they are not related at all?
    Please let me know.

    HI Mr Kumar,

I belong to Mekkunadu, no one has accepted inter caste marriage the big shots here caught into it and not a single badaga is in a position to ask them why??? Even they are vexed with their own children. I regret for those (my) grandfather’s position they can’t even speak regarding this coz of their own children. Its our duty to protect our culture and make proud of our forefathers and not making them fall from their level. I agree that unchanged society get vanished. We can make many changes in our society like banning child marriage (till today many girls highest qualification is 10Th or 12Th) encouraging education, to write a script for our language, learn and make it an official language of India and many for our growth. But this inter-caste marriage is not appreciable also not acceptable. The tradition and pride is from our birth not from book or environment..

If we accept inter-caste marriage for only reason that females are less than male then just think about our villages 10 or 20 yrs from now. It wont be a hatty it will be a typical village i.e ooru in cinemas, we will miss our old cultured festivals, food items, we cannot hear our badaga language, even badaga names which is getting depleted slowly……..

Finally i am against it, i want my husband, children, grand children, relatives, neighbors to be badagas
